The MBL and Woods Hole

Woods Hole is a small community at the Southern tip of Cape Cod in Massachusetts not far from Boston. Woods Hole has a long association with science and is home to scientific institutions that are known around the world including the Marine Biological Laboratories, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration’s Fisheries Services. In particular during the summer months Woods Hole is buzzing with scientific excitement. Woods Hole is also one of the prettiest places in the United States and many people come there to spend their summer holidays.

For more than a century, the MBL has been home to research and education at the cutting edge of biological sciences. As a BoP student you become part of this history. Check out the detailed website of the MBL to learn more about its history, research, and many education and outreach programs. The laboratories of the BoP course are in Loeb Building in the center of the MBL campus. The Loeb Building has just undergone complete renovation in 2010 and provides state-of-the-art labs, offices and meeting facilities to students and faculty. There are numerous courses held in Loeb each summer that overlap with BoP featuring cell biology, neurobiology, microbiology and many other subjects of modern biology.
