Since its inception, FIR has been attended by more than 130 individuals (affectionately known as FIRbees). A survey of the individuals who attended FIR between 1998 and 2002 clearly documents that this course has had a tremendously positive impact on their careers. The detailed results of this survey can be downloaded as a pdf file, but the results can perhaps be best summarized by the following comments made by three previous FIRbees:

“The lab experiences, learning of new techniques, and getting tips on the current ones are simply not found in any other place in the U.S. The lab space, equipment and variety of techniques are perfect."

“A key strength of the course was establishing really strong relationships with junior and senior scientists who are renowned in the biology of reproduction scientific community. These relationships will be an important cornerstone to building a network of collaboration and improve one’s own projects."

"I'm amazed that this type of course exists: one that is solely focused on the development and nurturing of young scientific minds. I've learned more ... than I would trying to read journal articles over several months. Thanks."
